why doesn't my new TV box remote have a stop button and how do I stop a programme I am watching without one

Well the the sagemcom RTIW387 is  the Box Pro model that was first provided by BT and more recently  by EE. Only the casing  and logos on the remote controls differ. The   firmware and software builds are the same , the functionality is determined  by the broadband line it is connected  to  and the subscriptions held.  Neither BT or EE have sold or transferred  ownership of subscription loaned Box Pro models .

 

So, say my aerial reception gets patchy watching Coronation Street etc. as it sometimes does, can I quickly flick over to the WiFi channels instead? without missing much Roy action? The squarer box has an aerial input at the back so Google not true?

No, that's not going to be possible, it is an "either or choice" during setup and requires a full Factory Reset to change the selection (about 5 minutes to setup and then tune the channels).

You could just watch the program on ITVX.
