Please be aware that I got a spam call this afternoon (18/11) claiming to be EE mobile.
They said they had a "special free upgrade opportunity" for my mobile service. They then asked if I could please confirm my email address.
I said sure, could you read me my email address and I'll tell you if it's correct.

That was when they hung up 🙄
The number they used was 02844572061

Please be careful and never give out personal details to people that call you!

Thank you Mentoc

I have tried to alert EE  to a similar thing that happened to me yesterday . I too was offered a  "special free upgrade opportunity" I was kept on the phone for 35 minutes whilst they asked me to confirm verification codes sent to me both on my mobile and my emails .... because all the authentication was coming through from what looked like a valid EE address . it was:

no-reply@info.ee.co.uk

However, at the end of the 35 minutes he began to ask me to verify my bank account details of which he had specific information. At this point I got very angry and refused to give any details . The number he was calling from was 01788227619. I have since frozen my debit card and tried to get through to someone to speak to in EE However , after being kept on hold with their new 'interactive service'   I think I should just cancel my account

Hi @vebcs

I can understand your concern when a call comes from a number you don't recognise and they are asking for personal details.

They email address you've mentioned is one we would use but I don't recognise the number as it is not showing on our Phone numbers EE partners will call from page.

If you do have any worries, it is worth speaking to our team over the phone so they can check the details on your account.

Michael

It is sad in this tech world that a human is not available to allay fears once you have experienced a scam and you are a pensioner like me, scared of who has access to your bank account . I will just have to cancel my account with EE

I have tried to contact your team over the phone but it is impossible to get past all the texts and verification codes . Someone did assure me that no one from EE tried to contact me yesterday so I know it was a scam...but what is most concerning is that they had information about my sort code the last four digits of both my current account and my debit card and how much a I pay per month . I have changed my password for getting into my EE account online but still do not feel safe

Have also just had what appears to be a spam call.

Caller claimed to be EE.

They were having to send a new SIM card out because my existing one was going to expire in 3 to 5 days. This would apparently be for free.

They were "transferring" me to someone else but this was immediate as if phone was being passed between people.

They were asking for my email address and other details.
I ended the call and blocked the number.
