Roaming refresh

JordanTA

What’s changing?

  • We’ve made non Europe Zone roaming easier with EE. From the 4th of December we'll be launching our new roaming passes that you can buy from the moment you land
  • This means we’re removing a number of Inclusive Extras passes and add-ons listed below and you will no longer be able to buy a pass before you travel
  • For customers with inclusive EU Roaming today or iPhone Full Works plans, nothing is changing and those roaming benefits will stay the same. To see our new plans with roaming included click here

How can I see the new prices?

What if I don’t buy a pass when I’ve landed outside of the Europe zone?

  • You can use minutes and texts, but out of bundle rates will apply
  • You will not be able to use data
  • Out of bundle rates vary dependent on the zone follow this link to find the most accurate costs for your trip
  • We recommend buying a pass to cover all usage across minutes, texts and data

I received a text about my roaming products being removed, which products are no longer being sold?

  • The following products will no longer be available to select from the 4th of December. If you already have one of these products, it will continue to work until you are notified that this has been removed from your account
  • Roam Abroad Pass, Roam Further Pass, Roam Abroad Inclusive Extra, Roam Further Inclusive Extra, Travel Data Pass, World Select Talk and Text, Anywhere Minutes, Anywhere Texts

What happens when my product is removed?

  • You will receive a text from us when the product has been removed with more information on our new offers and instructions on how to purchase them

Inclusive Extras:

  • We will be in touch with details of when your Inclusive Extras will be changing. There'll be two new products; one for EU zone roaming and one for ROW 1 zone, which covers 33 destinations

How will this affect my travel in Europe?

  • There are no changes to the way you use your device in Europe immediately as part of this change
  • We have introduced a new EU roaming Inclusive Extra for customers on plans that can select a benefit as part of their plan
  • In 2025, there will be an EU 7-day pass which will make it cheaper for customers who pay our daily roaming charge in the EU to use their device for a full 7 days

That’s interesting to know, this Roaming Refresh has been a bit confusing:

  • I am on the ‘All Rounder Sim 125 GB’
  • I had the ‘Roam Further’ pass as my inclusive extra so all good
  • After the launch of the Roaming Refresh, I moved my extra from ‘Roam Further’ to ‘ROW1’ as the text description at the time described it as ‘ROW1 as well as the EU countries’ (I posted a screenshot when I did it as I was super impressed to get the best of both)
  • Later turns out that was an error, it was only after I got charged in the EU that I logged back in, saw the text had been corrected and there’s also a separate EU pass

So my current situation is, I can switch between the EU and ROW1 pass on my plan to suit the trip I’m going on (trying to plan as best as possible as it changes with your next billing refresh, it isn’t instant after the first switch)

My sim is now at the point where I can upgrade to the ‘Unlimited Full Works’ plan for £24 (for the duration as I have a discount code) but I am hesitant as I want to be sure on the roaming point as at least whilst it isn’t great having to switch between the add-ons, I do have the choice. The ROW1 contains countries I travel to for work so am happy at not having to get local SIMs anymore.

But if we conclude that this plan does have the new roaming deal then I’ll upgrade as the perks such as the inclusive extra and the data for the watch are cool (have a smart watch, never bought a plan for it).

Hi @_MrR_

The Full Works plan includes roaming in the EU, USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.

Hope this helps.

Thanks @Lesley_W The confusion seems to stem from the change of wording on the Roam Further pass and the experience of Full Works subscribers on the previous page.

I understand you’re quoting correct information as in what the systems are saying. It just doesn’t seem to match the user experience. Hence why I’m interested in this post. If others have the same experience as the subscriber currently roaming in the UAE then I’ll be switching plans.

I’ve left the UAE now, however everything was working perfectly until my departure and likewise my wife on the same plan. I’m in Europe for a few days now and returning to the UAE at the end of next week so will see what happens. No additional charges have been applied to my account.  It would be interesting to hear from anyone else currently roaming in ROW Z1.

Had a conversation with a helpful fella at EE CS today and he informed me that my account now reflects the Roaming Pass ROW in place of my Roam Abroad Pass.

I find this strange as the Roam Further Pass name still shows up in my app, but he was adamant that the SOC had been swapped out for a different code and it now covers the RoW Zone 1 locations. Even sending me a text with the SOC code and name that he could see on his end.

So it is almost as if the function of the addon has been modified but the updated name has not been reflected on the systems visible to the customer.

This seems to line up with the description change from the 5 additional countries to "Use your UK data, unlimited minutes and unlimited texts while abroad in rest of world".

Slightly dubious about this, especially without being able to test it, but it sounds somewhat promising in combination with your post. Frustrating that the T&Cs have still not been updated, giving me little evidence to support this.

Waiting for my next bill to generate, as the "Within Allowance Summary" section should reflect the change if true.

@Lesley_W is this something you would be able to clarify or query internally? I am aware the T&Cs haven't been updated, so I would assume no change.

Morning @Matt_124

I've not heard of that change taking place, but I'll do a bit of digging to find out. Do you have a Full Works plan?

Michael

Yes I do, taken out in October 2024, after Tariff Refresh.

YSMAROFU Roaming Pass ROW is the add-on he claimed I now have on my plan in place of Roam Abroad Pass, although my app still shows it but with the changed description that others have mentioned.

Thanks @Matt_124.

That is the same plan as me, and everything I'm looking at still shows it is the EU and 5 additional countries in the Roam Abroad Pass.

I've tried texting ROAMING to 150 and looked in my online account at the roaming tool, and any ROW Zone 1 countries I'm choosing are showing that I'd need to purchase a Zone 1 add-on.

I've even looked at the internal systems that I've got access to, and there is nothing about the ROW Zone 1 countries being included in the Full Works plan.

Michael

@Michael_D , my add-ons show full roaming, Roam EU and Roam Further Pass, I have an Apple IPhone.

Is there a cooling off period on an upgrade?

I’m thinking I could upgrade to the Full Works plan at £24 and test this once. I’m flying to Greece tomorrow (so had planned to switch my add-on from my ROW1 pass to EU) but am also heading to Istanbul (within a ROW1 country) on Sunday so will know if the Full Works works in both EU and ROW1.

Just if it doesn’t, I’d be wanting to move back to my current plan / term.
