Roaming in Mexico

How can you switch roaming on from abroad when none of these phone numbers will work from your phone and the app doesn’t let you do it, very disappointing to have not been made aware my roaming wouldn’t automatically be available when changing contracts as I always had a roaming available on my previous contract

You've mentioned a previous contract, thus being on pay-monthly, the free roaming facility remains active on your account unless you explicitly request it removed.

Regardless of any billing add-ons that many users get confused with, what are the symptoms which lead you to think that roaming needs enabling? Does your phone show coverage of a local network in your host country?

Try performing a manual network search and cycle through each local network in turn.

I have not received any welcome texts when I landed and I am only managing to contact on here using WiFi. Data roaming is switches on in settings with automatic network selection switched on, I have managed to speak to the automated chat on the EE app who has told me roaming is not active but they can’t guarantee to switch it on now I am in Mexico all other phone with me are on EE too with the same issue and none of us have Skype totally disappointed in EE

Data roaming is just a phone setting enabling the use of mobile data whilst already roaming.

I suspect you may have had EU-only roaming enabled previously, it would otherwise be highly unusual for roaming to be removed unless you explicitly requested it.. and there is no incentive to do so.

Travelling abroad without the correct roaming permissions enabled does cause a catch-22 situation, if EE-CS have enabled it remotely, it usually resolves. Try performing a manual network search and cycling through operators - you can always re-enable automatic afterwards.

Hi I have already tried this but nothing happens when I switch off the automatic network selection it doesn’t do anything puts the phone onto emergency calls only
