@HUGHIETW : Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Did she receive a Welcome text upon arrival?

Is she on contract or PAYG? Had she used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before leaving to go abroad?

If she is on contract, did she activate roaming on her EE a/c before leaving UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Otherwise if she on contract you need to call CS to get her roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thanks XRaySpeX.

We did not activate any roaming prior to her leaving the UK

She is on a contract

The SIM is one which she has used for quite some time, just not in the US

I will get her to try the restart option and selecting a manual network.

Thanks

The roaming facility is what enables your SIM to connect to foreign networks. Unless you had it enabled prior to travelling abroad or have used it previously, then not enabling it probably means you don't have it enabled.

Those permissions will need enabling before your SIM will connect to foreign networks. The manual network selection often resolves issues with specific networks when that facility is known to be in-place.
