I just bought a new sim card and the EE agent said there would be no issue using it from abroad, however I am not able to make or receive calls despite the fact that I have the 5 GBP pack with 250 mgb of data, 250 minutes.
I am using an iphone 12 pro. What can I do please? Thank you.

@nittzzu Did you activate and use that sim in the UK first? You can not activate a sim outside the UK. If you did where are you as you can only use the pack allowance within the UK and EU. If your outside the EU you’ll need credit on your account for calls/texts.

But my friend has been using his EE sim outside the UK for years, we are in Romania.

Hi @nittzzu
Thanks for posting 🙂
Did you use the SIM card in the UK to make a call or send a text when on the EE network?
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.

I have just inserted the sim in my phone while at the airport in UK and made a call but the person didn't answer.

Hi @nittzzu
I'm sorry if this was not fully activated in the UK, you won't be able to use the SIM card and pack abroad.
Once you return and the SIM card is used on the EE network this will activate.
Leanne.

What do you mean by "activated", I have to make a call whilst in the UK, is that what it is? Thank you.

Fully working both in UK & worldwide. Yes, you have to use that PAYG SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you go abroad. EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.
