I bought the black Friday deal in November of the Xbox series X with the free game pass. I redeemed it last month but for some reason, I am being charged for the game pass this month, has anyone run into this issue before?

That is the correct way to do it, but it should be adding recurring monthly free Game Passes @Nate16.
I'd recommend giving our customer service guides a call and they can bring up your account to see what is happening and help to remove the chargeable option and get the free one added.

When you have been charged for the Game Pass, has this been on an EE bill or has it been taken from the bank?
Did you purchase the Xbox outright or is it paid monthly on a mobile bill?

I followed the instructions from the community here and went on ee.co.uk/xbox and followed the instructions there, when I added it as an add on it was free
