Test number

This has happened a few times now

At work i get given a customers mobile number to ring when I’m about 15 mins from them but sometimes when I ring it say this is a test number but if I ring from another phone it goes through can anyone explain

Are you sure you're dialling the same number? Are you calling the number from your contacts or manually using the dialler?

One possibility is the person you're calling, has a divert set - and this is kicking in on some calls. The divert is to a number which plays this "test number" announcement.
