Got my new iPhone 12 on contract with EE. 5G but is absolutely dreadful. Husband has iPhone 7 similar package with EE but 4G and his works perfectly. Any ideas?

What are the symptoms you're having?

The 5G network is still in relative infancy compared with the mature 4G side, so a 5G phone may have perceivably poor coverage when on the fringe of 5G service.

It shouldn't cause any issues using the phone - it should drop down to 4G as & when necessary. If that's not the case - how so?

Hi yeah it makes no difference. Even when I go into settings and manually shift down to 4G.

Thinking I’ve got a phone that is faulty?

Actually defo think it’s a problem with my phone. Wi-Fi connection is so unpredictable too.

Hi @Andrea70

Thanks for getting back to us.

Are you aware if this is the case in all areas?

Katie

Hiya

it varies. There are no particular hot spots as it can be very temperamental. But often my phone just freezes when I’m using Wi-Fi at home and takes ages to access the internet.

It hates Safari internet searching Google etc. So if I’ve got Twitter, Instagram email etc which usually works anywhere using 4G. Browsing is an absolute unpredictable beast though. Even on Wi-Fi it can not work.

Di you think it’s my phone?

@Andrea70   Sounds like a device issue .   Have you tried a network reset on the device?   It might be a new device but I’ve had a similar issue years ago with a new iPhone 4S and network reset fixed that issue .    A network reset doesn’t just reset a cellular connection it also resets a Wi-Fi connection.      Setting>General>Transfer or Reset iPhone>Reset>Reset Network Settings.     If this doesn’t resolve the issue then yes you could have a faulty device.
