Hi,
I have a Synology RT2600 which is connected to the www via a slow FTTC connection. I would like to keep that connection as a fall over and connect the 5GEE router into the 2nd WAN port.
Can the 5GEE router be configured as a modem?
The RT2600 has a mobile dongle option but 5G compatibility is not known.
Thanks.

The 5GEE 2021 router cannot run as modem-only.
What acts as the modem for your FTTC BB?

Could you turn off the wifi and give it an IP such as 192.168.100.1?

Yes, you may turn WiFi off. You might be able to give it a fixed IP in the main router's DHCP range but not all mobile routers allow config of the DHCP.
