Hello,
I no longer live in UK and I have a 2 year mobile broadband contract with EE that is still continuing to this day, I do not want to pay any extra charges so I just want to cancel my subscription before it renews as it only has a few months left. I an wondering can I do something like requesting a cancellation early-on (like from now) so that once the renewal date arrives, EE automatically terminates my subscription?

Welcome to the Community, @badem
You're absolutely welcome to cancel a contract early, but as you're still within the minimum commitment period, you would need to pay an early termination fee upfront before we can sort this.
You can give our team a call from anywhere in the world via the details in the page linked below:

Whatever you do you need to pay for the full term. You committed to it. If you are wanting to cease your mobile contract completely you need to phone EE giving 30 days notice of cancellation of your contract. If you are still within your min term you will be liable to pay Early Termination Fees for the rest of the term. They will basically be months left x monthly charge - 4%.

It's worth mentioning that cancelling early is cheaper than just letting it run to the end - you'll get a 4% discount on remaining charges. If you're no longer using the service, then you may as well cancel.
