upgrade sim plan

hi! i finished my contract months ago and couldn’t upgrade because there were “no plans available” to me so i left it for a while and decided to check back. i’ve upgraded to a sim only plan as i own the phone i had on contract, however, my contract is currently suspended on my phone so i have no 4G etc. i logged into my ee and there is no evidence of the upgrade that i’ve just ordered. i was just wondering if i would need to pay the outstanding amount from my old contract that ended months ago to be able to start my new sim plan when it arrives. plus, will not paying the outstanding amount effect my new sim plan? thanks :))

Yes, you will need to pay any amount owing before you can upgrade it. I wouldn't have thought you could do any upgrade w/out doing so.

These mobile contracts don't just end, just the min. term expires. They are not fixed term contracts. After the min. term they just carry on at the same price on a rolling 30-days' notice basis until you explicitly cancel or upgrade. There will however be a 10% discount after 3 months.
