hi I'm just wondering if its possible to ask what to do with an old refund check I found while sorting through some of my old paperwork it's from 2023 and it's only for a total of £75.74 so its not a lot of money but I don't want to shred it unless I know if its possible to ask for a new updated check?

any advice would be helpful

Hi @CamUK1988

Normally just give them a ring and ask for it to be reissued unless you send it back and ask for it to be reissued.

There is normally a 6 month rule but technically it is 6 years and it may even be worth trying to bank it via your online banking app, if EE has cancelled it then you'll be notified. I'm only found out recently you can do this which is brilliant 😂

Thanks

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 07953 966 150 for mobile and 0330 123 1105 for Broadband..

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

thanks for the reply I tried to phone EE earlier today on the number but I was unsure what options to go through also I tried to cash it in with my HSBC banking app but it wouldn't work as it says to take it into my local branch but from what google told me they would reject it straight away.

regards

Is there a 6year rule? Can you post a link where this is outlined? Plenty of banking sites quote 6months as the accepted rule.

Hi @CamUK1988

If the cheque wasn't accepted online, it would be best to give us a call so they can get the cheque reissued.

If you choose the billing option when you call, one of our guides will be able to help.

@ee_user14 : Under the UK Statute of Limitations, a cheque is technically enforceable as a contract for up to 6 years, meaning you can still legally ask the issuer to pay you. It's not so much that the cheque can be cashed within 6 years, which the banks will refuse after 6 months, but the amount of the cheque can be claimed from the other party as part of their contract obligations.
