New contract or upgrade just before the 31st march will my price increase

Hi all,

I'm eligible for my anytime upgrade soon which I will have to pay £x to upgrade but to how long I've been in contract for.

Now I understand my price will increase with the CPI + 3.9%, that's the contract that I signed and have no issue with that and I got my letter to say my price will increase on the 31st of March.

Now, when my price drops on my anytime upgrade, this will be before that price increase, between the 1st of march and 30th march. If I go ahead with my anytime upgrade or started a new contract between the 1st and 30th, would I still get hit by the CPI + 3.9% ?  What about 14 days before the 31st? My price plan will go up as I understand that condition of the anytime upgrade, I just want to be sure.

Just as I side note, say someone took out a new contract or upgrade on the 30th, I think it would be unreasonable to tell them their price will increase the day after.

As long as you upgrade to a new contract after 1st March 2022 your 1st CPI + 3.9% increase will take place on 31st March 2023 , not 31st March 2022.

Does this still apply for this year?

I was about to take out a new contract when I realised the price could increase at the end of March so I stopped. I can't find any info on the net other than this forum but this obviously applies to last year.

So if I was to take out a new contract with EE tomorrow (1st of March 2023) will I be hit with the price increase on 31st March 2023? Otherwise I'll wait until April.

Hi @azzi007,

Please see EE Annual Price Change for information about this year's adjustment.

James

I am in the same position and EE just advised me that the increase will not apply if I upgrade today and the phone arrives with me on/after 1st March 2023.

Thanks @Danlon2511  that's helpful info.

@James_B I did have a read through the EE Annual Price Change doc and I couldn't find any info as to when the price increase kicks in at what point you start the contract so not particularly helpful, although it's possible I missed something, it's a long document. I think to be safe I'm going to wait until April as you never know with these big companies, they make these things really vague.

Hi @azzi007,

@Danlon2511 is correct, if you upgrade after 1 March 2023, your plan won't be subject to the annual price change until March 2024.

Hope this helps.

James

If you are still hesitant, just call them on 150 from an EE SIM and do the upgrade over the phone and get them to confirm when your next price increase will happen.
