Seven Apps You Need to Try This Mother’s Day

If Mother’s Day has crept up on you, or if you are looking to make this an extra special Mother’s Day and you just need a little guidance, I’ve put together a list of my favourite apps to help you treat someone special straight from your phone. As we are all so busy, I have looked into apps which are not only easy to use (whether you’re on the sofa, grabbing a coffee or on the train) but who deliver on time too!

Pinterest

Pinterest is a great starting place for any special occasion; it’s ideal for when you need a little gift inspiration. Pinterest is great when you need help with DIY gifts, want to find a delicious dinner to make or are looking for the perfect gift to buy - there’s not much you can’t find on Pinterest!  It’s also a great place to look for fun Mother’s Day crafts if you have young children. I also use it for cooking inspiration and a few years ago I made my mum some Mother’s Day cupcakes, which were delicious!

Bloom & Wild

Flowers are very popular on Mother’s Day, which means there is often a big rush in stores on Sunday morning. The best way to avoid this is with the Bloom & Wild App. They really go above and beyond; you can order a gift of Letterbox Flowers with your own personalised message, and if no one’s home, they fit straight through the letter box. Alternatively, if you have a little more money to spend, I love their monthly subscription of flowers, especially the hand tied bouquets. You can also add a box of chocolates and a personalised message to any of your orders. I use Bloom & Wild all the time, and I’ve even been sent a bouquet once or twice!

Etsy

I really love Etsy for gifts and it’s perfect for Mother’s Day! You’ll find personalised gifts that you can’t find anywhere else, delivered straight to your door! It’s great if you want an impressive gift without too much effort! If you’re unsure what personalised gift you should get, you can simply type in ‘Mother’s Day’ and then filter with your budget. I personally love their necklaces - they have some really beautiful ones in either gold or silver, which you can personalise with your mum’s name or the names of her children.

Heads Up

When you ask most Mothers what they would like for Mother’s Day, most just want to spend some time with their kids. Sharing a meal together is always great but you could then follow that with a game of Heads Up. It’s great for all ages, from young kids to Grandmas - it’s fun for everyone! It’s a version of charades where one player places the phone in front of their forehead and everyone else must give clues as to who or what is on the phone, to the person holding the phone. There are lots of different categories, so you’ll definitely find one which your family will love!

OpenTable

If you’re looking to take your Mother out for a meal this Mother’s Day, then making a reservation is a good idea as places are often very busy. OpenTable allows you to browse local restaurants to find the perfect place and you can often book straight through the app. You can search your favourite cuisine, your location and your budget to find the best place for you. If you’re in London and looking for somewhere nice I would highly recommend either Bronte in Charing Cross or Afternoon Tea at The Sanderson Hotel- both are bookable through the OpenTable app.

Lalalab

The App I’ll be using this Mother’s Day is Lalalab. We all love taking photos but rarely ever print them anymore, which I think is such a shame! I’ll be grouping together all my favourite photos from the last few years and turning them into one of Lalalab’s beautiful Photo Books for my mum. Alternatively, the app also lets you make a canvas, a magnet, a calendar and so much more.

Tasty

Whether you’re looking to bake a cake or cook a three-course meal, then Tasty is the app for you, especially if you’re quite new to cooking. The app has a whole range of recipes that you can favourite, but you can also search for ideas based on difficulty, occasion, diet and cuisine style. The step by step mode makes it so incredibly easy to follow that you can’t go wrong!
