Hi all
I know that the Orange.net and other services were made not available in 2017 but I am having an issue with account passowrd resets on a system that I used to use an oldOrange.net emails address with.
The third party will not change may email address as they say the orange.net email system is still working.
If I send an email to any random email to "ob2@@orange.net" I dont get an error back which makes it look loike the system is active.
If I make up an email like ob1@boandval.net then I get an error "ob1@bobandval.net (ob1@bobandval.net) Your message couldn't be delivered. The Domain Name System (DNS) reported that the recipient's domain does not exist."
So has anyone got any idea why orange.net appears to still be on the DNS servers but I can't access them. EE customer service have not been able to help at all.
Thanks

@OrangeEmailer : The domain orange.net does not exist on the ordinary routing DNS. nslookup orange.net returns nowt & an ordinary browse to it cannot reach it & fails "NXDOMAIN".
However the domain itself still exists w/out any IP associated with it & is still owned by EE. Its email routing (MX Records) is still valid & as emails sent to it don't bounce its SMTP server is up & running.
Now it is not anti-Net for EE to keep the domain alive & to keep its email servers running but is rather pointless as they never reply.
You could either:
It was rather unwise to keep relying on this email addy as your contact email / username for this 3rd-party site after it was announced as being closed down. I went thro' all my registered websites changing my email addy at that time.

Thanks for the info XRaySpeX
You are correct that it is unwise to have left this one active but it is easy to miss one with so many login's these days 😞
I will give it a try to contact the EE/Orange team
