Morning Everyone,

After waiting for any news, I saw that the new WiFi 7 is being advertised and the Smart Home Pro is available.

So I’ve signed up for the 1.6Gb package which includes the WiFi 7 Router.

I will update this post once I receive everything and I’ll do a full review.

I get the new iPhone 16 Pro Max this Friday on launch which is WiFi 7 so I’ll be able to test out the new WiFi capabilities and then I’ll do a wired test to my gaming PC.

Estimated Date for equipment = 28 September 2024

Date for Installation - 2nd October 2024 - 8am to 1pm.

Although I don’t need an engineer as I have everything in place from my previous internet so will see if I can just plug in myself 😄

@jon_1103  here is a couple of WiFi 7 routers which are dual band which I've tested

TP Link BE3600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router and  ASUS TUF Gaming BE3600 Dual Band WiFi 7 Router

EE due to call me tomorrow so will see what they say

@iammbuk interesting, those are low spec WiFi 7 routers without the 6Ghz band. Almost like buying a Ferrari that has a 1 litre engine!

That's very true 😀 I found that they did underperform the TP link was better over the ASUS one though

@iammbuk I guess like me you signed a 24 month contract for the Smart WiFi Plus? (As I'm also currently paying £10 a month for that.) If this is the case, it’s interesting that they’re effectively letting you swap to the Smart Hub Pro and WiFi Pro add on.

@ColeseyI can't see why they wouldn't let you switch over, the £10 a month is to rent the equipment and the Smart Hub Pro supersedes the Smart Hub Plus.

yeah I don’t understand either. I know that when I signed up originally there was loads of issues with the install from EE and open reach and it took several months to resolve some of those issues are still going on but you would think that you can just literally switch it over to the new hardware but that’s not the case they have to cancel the old hardware first wait for the order to close before they can place a new order for Wi-Fi 7 hardware, it does seem to be a bit ridiculous but that’s the process and I’m just having to wait

You are one step ahead of me, I’ve apparently got an open order on my account so can’t even remove the original SW+ yet😂
