Every day for months I've been getting disconnected from the internet. At first it was 1x a day at around 10pm most nights.. 4 engineers later its got 200% worse, anyone on the forums able to tell me what's wrong with my Internet issue is, its dropping and cutting connections on everything around 8-15x a day. just a short snippet of my extensive log.

Welcome to EE's Home Broadband Forum.

Is it the BB as a whole dropping or just the WiFi connections? Do Ethernet connected devices stay working? What colours are the light sequence when it happens? Your log does not show any BB discons. Is the device (IP=192.168.1.247) connected by WiFi & what is it?

If you would like help with your BB speed or connection issues, please would you carry out the following steps for starters, which will enable us to diagnose the problem and advise you further. Do not restart your router to do these tests:

1. Post your full router stats:

  • For a BrightBox: login and go to Advanced Settings/ System/ DSL Status. Also post 'System Uptime' from top of System Log page.
  • For a SmartHub: login and go to Advanced Settings/ Technical Log/ Information. Obscure your names & any numbers in the BB Username & also the SSIDs.

Full router stats are key to any speed & connection issues.

2. Try a wired speedtest, using an Ethernet cable supplied with the router, here http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html . Click on the "Results Page" button at the bottom of the graph you first see and then copy to here just the "Link to this result:" link that you see below the next main graph.

3. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

@JHG  What about the other items @XRaySpeX  asked for?

Also, how is your phone line? Are you able to dial 17070 option 2 - is the line quiet?

Hi @JHG ,

I'm aware that your intermittent internet issue is somewhat dated now.

Did it resolve itself?

I've just noticed there are similarities with https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-home-phone/Fibre-Max-Broadband-disconnecting-multiple-times-...

From a number of forum threads, the drop is proceeded by lines similar to those you have reported. The time discontinuity is obviously as the device has just rebooted and the time is the beginning of the epoch (so far in the past, not the future) which will be corrected when the router contacts a time server.

Here is one with DDNS lines before UPnP lines but disabling UPnP resolved that one quite unexpectedly:

https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-home-phone/Dec-26-11-34-40-pppd-8436-Serial-link-appears-to-...

Here is something similar still under investigation and I'm hoping logs will be reported: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-home-phone/EE-router-random-restarting-I-can-t-contact-suppo...

Here is another example of essentially the same as reported, even down to the epoch reset: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-home-phone/router-disconnecting/td-p/856168

@mikeliuk  the purpose of the forum is to help customers, not scaremonger or speculate on unconnected cases.

If you had any knowledge of routers you would be aware that there are a limited number messages reported by routers and the same ones will be shown when a line goes down.
