Hi,
The DHCP of my EE hub is configured to use the IP range 192.168.2.x to lease IPs to devices connected to WIFI. This works for like 80% of the time but there are situations where it starts to lease IPs from the range 17.16.1.x??? Does anyone know what's going on here? What makes it worse is that those devices wouldn't be able to access the internet and I cannot change the assigned IP or remove them from with in the hub.

@akamal What EE Router do you have? are you seeing the erroneous IP range displayed in the web interface, or is it showing only on the app, when you click on the IP web interface, it does not allow you to correct the IP, you will not be allowed to change to anything that the router has previously assigned and now hidden away from view. Picture will take time to be released for viewing.

That image would be approved if the MACs were obscured.
!72.16.0.0/16 is 1 of the possible Server Addy Ranges of the SH+'s DHCP but it is more likely that you have set up that device with that static IP with "Always use this IP address:" in the router or the device itself is setting its own static IP.
Click on that device in that My Network list. When it opens up does say "Always use this IP address:" = YES?
Perhaps you once used that Server Addy Range but since changed it & forget to remove a Static IP on it.

Thank you imM11 and XRaySpeX for replying. I got the router a few months back when I renewed my contract from BT to EE. I’m using the web interface of the router to check whenever a device joins my WIFI but fails to connect to the internet. That’s when I started to see that erroneous IP range.
for the device in question, it does say "Always use this IP address:" = NO
All devices connected to my WIFI are configured to use DHCP. No static IP assignment. This issue is not specific to a particular device. I see it on Windows, Linux, Android and IOS.
I have factory reset the router multiple times and my latest attempt is to use a custom IP range of 192.168.2.x rather than the default 192.168.1.x.
I’m re-attaching the images with MACs obscured.

@akamal It would also be good if you can post some text with regards to the current FW that the router is on. Status page or technical log will show you the information. Images again when approved will be viewed. You only have one router on the system the EE, not doing anything else like 2nd router with double nat and it's dhcp on by mistake?

The device in question must be setting its own fixed IP. What is it? Have a look at its settings.

Yes I would tend to agree, it sounds like whatever the device is, probably has been set up with the IP address
Need to go to the settings of the device, I bet its been set up with the rouge IP address in its menu, either intentionally or by accident, otherwise the device by default what take an IP address of 192.168.2.XXX

Thank you all for your contribution.
I don’t have any other router, firewall, switch or AP in my home. All devices connect directly to the EE router.
Not sure what happened between yesterday and today but, for this specific device example, it’s picking up the right IP now.
Generally speaking, I’ve had family visiting who’d connect their mobile/laptop to my home WIFI and not get internet. As a workaround, I’d configure their mobile/laptop with a static IP and then they would get Internet. I just have to remember to put mobile/laptop back on DHCP when they leave.
Not sure how long this thread will remain open but if I see this issue again, I will give an update. Hopefully this is the last of this issue.

@akamal There are 2 parts, the EE router and the Device connection. If you take a look at the first IP you see it is just slightly outside the range, 2nd obviously way out. When you are fixing the range for static are the other devices close to the original operating range? You say that the router was replaced by BT, is it an older EE router/New replacement, have you also checked that the FW of the router version. Powerline devices have been know to mess with router and some do have a dhcp server which should be switched off. I only have one device Asus laptop on wi-fi goes rogue were no network connection so will take a close look next time it happens but may not see it for a while as very intermittent but something it does not like, drop and reconnect always fixes so easy to get going again. ALL my addressing is static on the EE router my preference. HTH
