Connecting to a Smart Disc

Hi, I have just upgraded to the 500Mb home broadband with 2 Disc's as we live in an old cottage with bad ring mains so all options to get wifi have previously failed..

I can safely say the disc's have done a fantastic job at increasing the Wifi coverage BUT... I have a couple of devices that are wired internet only so I need to connect these up somehow.

My theory was to use my old TPlink wifi booster with an Ethernet cable for the CCTV to connect to and put that on the network BUT it cannot see the main router, only the Disc.

So do I need to pair it to the Disc or to the Main Router as this hasnt worked so far.

Hi @53Buick.

Welcome to the community.

Are you not able to connect the CCTV to the disc?

What router are you currently using with the discs?

Jon

Hi, as our walls are 2ft thick, the router is in the snug, the Disc is in the bedroom above the snug as the walls are thinner upstairs so the signal can then pass back down to the office and I now get 70mB of my 500mB which is usable BUT...... I forgot that I have my CCTV 5 port hub in the office and the cabling then out to the workshop for the CCTV cameras.

So there is no way of getting the cables to the router or the the Disc as they are in different rooms and the main reason for going to the disc was to remove cabling.

I will not be best popular if the cable has to go back in so I thought I could use a wireless booster that has an ethernet port on it and then connect that to the network (which must be the disc) and then put that in the office to connect to the 5 port hub that supplies the wired CCTV.
