The new Motorola Razr is one of the year’s most highly anticipated phones. Not only does it take us on a nostalgic trip down memory lane to a time when flip phones were all the rage - but it does it while using state-of-the-art folding screen technology.

So what’s it like to use?
To see for yourself, head over to our Motorola Razr page. You’ll find a list of all the EE stores that will have the Razr on display for you to try out.
For now, here’s a few thoughts on what it’s like.
For those of a certain age, holding the phone in your hand will be a surreal experience. The similarities between the original Razr and the new model are striking.
Just like the original, the new Razr has a reassuring weight to it thanks to that polished metal frame. This phone feels incredibly premium.
Motorola Razr design and features
On the back there’s a textured finish, which looks great and provides grip when you unfold the phone one-handed (or just using it day-to-day).

On the other side you’ll find the main camera and the intuitive Quick View display that makes taking selfies a doddle and lets you change tracks, quickly see messages and notifications without having to open the phone.

Of course, the question you really want answered is how does the Razr feel to unflip? Well we’re happy to report that it doesn’t disappoint.
Thanks to some mechanical wizardry, the phone has a zero-gap hinge that’s easy to open one-handed while maintaining a reassuring sturdiness that lets you open and close the phone to your heart’s content.
This is of course where any similarities end. Unlike the original you’re not presented with a laser-cut metallic keyboard but a stunning 6.2-inch OLED Flex View display that stretches the full height of the phone.
A futuristic flip phone
It’s hard to overstate just how futuristic it feels opening the phone and seeing that display. Even after half an hour of using the Razr it still doesn’t get any less exciting.
At the bottom of the unfolded Razr is the iconic ‘chin’, which has been updated to include a discrete fingerprint sensor. Even today that design continues to prove its usefulness, providing a solid anchor point in the hand that stops the phone ever feeling top heavy.

Thanks to a Snapdragon 710 processor, using the Razr feels snappy and responsive while pure Android means you get a clean, uncluttered software experience that lets you really personalise the phone to your own tastes and needs.
Of course, Motorola has a few tricks up its sleeve. While they’ve left the operating system clean they’ve thrown in some surprise Easter eggs, including the ability to turn the screen into an interactive version of the original Razr.

The main camera has also been given the Motorola treatment, so you’ll get all the flagship features you’d expect from a premium smartphone including Portrait Mode, Night Vision and an AI-powered mode that helps you with your composition for that perfect shot.
The Motorola Razr is exclusively available to pre-order now on EE.
