EE today launched its new TV service, EE TV, available with EE Broadband.

EE TV means amazing entertainment and sport, with Sky channels from NOW, Netflix, TNT Sports and more – through flexible packages that can be changed month to month, so customers only have to pay for what they want to watch.

The biggest news? EE TV will launch on Apple TV 4K via a new app with a bespoke TV guide for a complete and seamless live TV experience, as well as an EE branded remote offering instant app access. Customers can now choose the best TV experience for them, with a range of set top boxes including Apple TV 4K, EE TV Box Pro, or EE TV Box Mini.

For customers wanting to watch in multiple rooms, only EE TV comes with up to 2 extra EE TV Box Mini’s at no extra cost.

Those joining the new EE TV service will be able to enjoy six months free Apple TV+. Apple TV+ offers award-winning Apple original series and films, from hit dramas to star-studded comedies, ground-breaking documentaries to kids’ favourites, with new premieres added every month.

Hi Eks71,

I don't understand the rationale behind such a decision by EETV.

It does not appear to make sense, though I am quite familiar with EE
having little regard for customer loyalty alongside poor communication
channels.

I had been with EE for many years for mobile, broadband and TV before
they launched their Apple TV service.

I with many others were quite shocked and surprised when they stopped
their EETV service.

Somehow, I feel that the reported decision only makes sense if it is
temporary due to issues getting the EETV service fully deployed.

Perhaps as others have posted, what one is told depends upon whom one
has spoken to, as not all staff are on the same page regarding the new
EETV service.

Hi Eastie19,

Congratulations.

Positive feedback at last.

I am still waiting for EETV to inform me about my hardware bundle.

Let us know how it all goes next week.

Can I ask how you ordered the mini boxes? I'm disabled and part of the
reason for switching to EE was the extra boxes as I can spend some time bed
ridden so the extra boxes would mean my entertainment wouldn't be limited.
I can't tell you how frustrated I am with trying to find the right process
to add them to my account. It shouldn't take this much time or be this
difficult. Where are the EE Community Managers?

I did it all on the phone but as a new customer to EE - the mini boxes are available free with the ee pro box or the Apple box

@NickBS Any joy with grabbing some official steer?

I’m a BT customer with broadband and big sports package through the HD box - my contract finishes in the next week or so. I’m also an EE customer with 2 lines!

I want to move across to the EE Full Works package at £100.89 p/m - it’s advertised as available right now, so logic would suggest that I can sign up in the confidence that the switch would be immediate, include EE TV and new equipment… but other user experiences would suggest otherwise.

Hopefully you’re able to provide some positive news

All, any of you considering EE TV, think twice. I switched from Virgin two weeks ago. From day one poor picture quality. Despite engineers coming out and remote fixes stil not fixed.

additionally even as of today I unable to access sky sports since day one. Empty promises and no fixes. Today I was told by a tech support member at EE just cancel sir, it’s not really ready yet. Can you imagine.

now I am paying for a product and service that’s not fit for purpose and no one can fix it. So thinks again before switching I am done with EE, terrible service, awful product and very misleading

@Eks71  @mirrors90 and other existing ee ‘legacy’ customers. Positive update. I was advised by a retentions team member on latest call to try in store as he thought they had access to the ‘new’ software? Called local store and after checking with manager, they said that they should be able to add EETV to my account. Result. I went in on Friday, took 40 mins and am now waiting for ‘new’ EE router, TV Pro box plus 2 minis to be delivered, with activation scheduled 2/2/24. So try your local ee store. Hope this helps!

@andywust

Hi Andywust,

I agree with your assesssment of EETV services presently.

To date this roll-out has been a disaster.

With an organisation the size of BT our national carrier and EE hich purports to be the most reliable broadband and mobile provider, this result should not have been imaginable.

I am still trusting they will get it right eventually, as they are the only service advertising what I want, but thank you for your warning.

Regards, Muffs

@NickBS - I’m guessing you have had no luck in obtaining an official steer on this please?

No nothing at all and nor expecting anything at all I am waiting to cancel my TV package but surprise, surprise being told this is not possible as there is a fix pending which has been in place for two weeks and again surprise, surprise now takes me past my two week cooling off period. Honestly these guys are terrible, unacceptable and in this day and age totally terrible at all levels

Hi Downloader,

Just got off the phone to BT of EE/BT sales staff who have informed me
that EE do not have an EETV service until 29th jan.

They/she had no answer regarding the previously advertised 6th Dec date
for EETV, but apologised for my being miinformed back on November24th.

I anticipate being able to sort my situation out 29th Jan.

I hope this helps.

Regards and best wishes,

Hi Andywust,

From what I have been told earlier today, I am not surprised by your post.

BT of EE/BT sales staff have informed me that EE do not have an EETV
service until 29th jan.

They/she had no answer regarding the previously advertised 6th Dec date
for EETV, but apologised for my being mis-informed back on November24th.

I anticipate being able to sort my situation out 29th Jan and offer my
sympathies over your "cooling off" period issues

Perhaps your existing provider might extend it, if you are able to ask
them to be a little understanding, as they migtht experience delays in
rolling out a service in the future and need some understanding then
from their client/customers.

I am a repeat BT returned customer and an EE returning customer,
switching poviders is unfortunately a necessary evil these days

Good luck,

my Ee pro box and mini boxes were activated today along with the smart hub plus - seems ok apart from I can’t turn ant tv off or on  with the Ee remotes of change source button which is strange , means I will need to use 2 remotes

@Eastie19

I think you mentioned you went for the Apple TV as the main box earlier? How are you finding the EE app to watch live tv?

I already have an Apple TV but interested in EE’s offering although can’t currently sign up as I’m an existing broadband customer.

You can turn off your TV with the standard Apple TV remote, hold in the power button on the remote and the TV will turn off. If it doesn’t check here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/tv/atvbbe2477c9/tvos

I’m not familiar with the EE remote for Apple TV but hopefully it’s similar functionality!

Edit: Ignore all of the above, just noticed it was the pro box you went for, oops 😂

No I went for the ee  pro box and 2 minis , picture quality is good but it will take a bit of getting used to from sky stream which we were with - however the ee package with free boxes was £33 less so a no brainer

Hi Eastie 19,

Thanks for the update, you got there.

Juggling remotes has always been an issue for me, to varying degrees.

I've been told the mini boxes cannot be added over the phone. Yet, there
seems to be no way to add them online either. Seriously regretting that I
switched to EE. Either these boxes are available free to new customers or
not. Today I was put through to 5 different agents who were just gonna
order them for me only for the final one to give me the answer above.

Hi Dindy36,

Most interesting and frustrating.

I posted yesterday afternoon that BT advised me that EE would not have
TV to offer EETV until 29th Jan.

Presently EETV is merely a rebranded BTTV on existing BTTV hardware.

Yet yesterday evening Eastie 19 posted, his EE Pro and two mini boxes
had been delivered and were working.

"Go figure".

It has already been observed that not all the BT/EE Sales Team staff are
on the same page, regarding EETV as a service offering by EE, as you
have discovered.

Once you have an EETV account with EE then you should be able to order
the two mini boxes from your account online.

If you have a BTTV account whose services presently appear EETV branded
on your TV, then you do not have EETV account and the mini boxes cannot
be added to that service.

I believe BTTV do have a single box that can be added to a BTTV account
for an additional monthly cost.

I advise you to check your TV account to confirm who is providing it BT
or EE.

If it is BT then call them after 29th to switch and order which EETV
package you want from EE.

Cheers and good luck,

Hi all

I went live on the 8th of jan after migrating from old ee to new ee . I have the apple 4k box with 2 minis .  All working well even though still a lot missing from the app like pause and rewind ect but you can see the potential there. I just got in touch with the new ee sales team they shut my old account down and opened the new one it was simple

I phoned EE this afternoon but as an ‘old’ EE broadband customer was told I needed to be in the last 9 months of my contract to change to ‘new’ EE without charge for ending my contract early,  but could move to BT now without issue 🤪. Since I am looking to add EE TV with the Apple 4k Box I know this is not an option for me. Possibly my own fault as I forgot to ask to speak to the ‘new’ sales team 🙈 @muffs thank-you for the info, I will try calling again on or after the 29th to see if the  information changes.

I recently moved from BT to EE was advised yesterday that it would “be another two weeks” before I can order EE TV.

I agreed to go on a list and apparently they’ll call when it’s ready to order…

Hi Downloader,

I am pleased that coherent and sensible responses are coming from EE.

They now have a list, brilliant.

Sounds promising.

Regards and best wishes.

@muffs, I am intrigued to see if the list functions as expected.
