Christmas upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my daughter's SIM only contract to a pay monthly contract with a newer phone (iPhone SE 2020), as a Christmas present. I'd like to do the upgrade now whilst there are good deals on, but I'm concerned that in doing so she will be alerted to the upgrade and/or the contract will start on the new phone and she won't be able to use her current phone in the run up to Christmas. Please could someone advise? Thanks

Is your daughter on EE SIM only now? 

 

If you are the account owner the you can upgrade her account, she will know this has happened, buy not necessarily that there is a phone upgrade as well, unless she has her own EE app access. 

 

Simply put this might need to be an early Christmas present.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

EE standard opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm - Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.
Thanks for your reply. She's on an EE sim only contract that I manage but
I'm guessing from your reply that she will get some kind of text
notification? She doesn't have the EE app.

Would the only way to keep it a surprise be to do it as a completely new
line, with a new number, and then cancel her SIM only line?

If you upgrade she may get texts to the phone about the plan changing and any new benefits.

 

If you have a chat with our Mobile Care team on 150, they will see what the best option would be for you, so this is kept a lovely surprise.
