Data allowance warning despite purchasing the 7 day unlimited data option

Due to issues with my internet connection at home earlier today I purchased the 7 day unlimited data one off add on. Despite this I have just had a text message from 1024 saying I have used up 80% of my allowance.

Usually my tarrif only has 3Gb of data which normally is fine when my home internet is working. Does anyone know why I have got this warning? When according to my phone I have only used.

Is 1024 even a legit number that EE use?

It's only talking about data that you may potentially gift from the 1st 100GB of all your data to other nos. on your a/c if you choose to. It's just a warning just in case you wanted to. You may safely ignore it & carry on using data for your own purposes including hotspotting.

As you use data for your own use you are eating into this gifting allowance even when you are not actually gifting it.

Notice that it didn't say "You've gifted data you can gift" just that "You've used data you may gift".

1024 is the no. EE uses to text you about data usage warnings.

Thanks for the info. It would be helpful if it stated that in the message to avoid confusion.
