Apple Music 6 month free?

I just upgraded my phone and as part of it I get 6 months free Apple Music. I tried to sign up for this for it to tell me I already used it. Is this a bug?

I think I did years ago on a previous contract… this is a new contract, I was told when I got it the free Apple Music was included for 6 months.. I would never have upgraded at that price knowing it wasn’t. As I’m trying to save money with a newborn baby.
