Hi,

I'm in the market for a smart watch with LTE. I'm trying to determine which route is more cost-effective between buying outright or buying through EE. If I buy outright, according to this article, I need to buy an "EE Smart Watch plan", but I am unable to find any details on this, specifically the contract length and monthly cost. Could anyone share the page, please?

Thanks in advance.

W.

Since posting, I have found this page: https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/terms-and-conditions/pay-monthly/smartwatch-plans

There are two plans of interest:

  1. EE Smartwatch 24-month plan T&Cs - October 2022
  2. EE Smartwatch SIM only plan T&Cs - October 2022

I assume the 24-month plan includes the cost of the watch.

From the SIM only plan:

And the difference:

Assuming this PDF is correct and up to date, in other words, to use the watch as a phone when not "paired" (Bluetooth, I presume) with my mobile (Primary Device), I'd need to buy the Family Member plan.

What makes me think this PDF is wrong is the date. Didn't BT put all their prices up in March?

Hi @woter324,

You set up the plan from the watch/watch app directly.

Sim-only watch plans are £7 per month are 30 day rolling contracts. 10GB of data is included for the watch only.

If you purchase direct from EE, the costs are available on the device pages: https://ee.co.uk/smart-tech/pay-monthly-wearables-gallery

Thanks,
Alex

The 'pairing' wording is a little strange I have to admit.

The family plan is if you were to give the watch to your child for example - then the watch gets it's own phone number etc.

If it is your phone and your watch, just use the personal plan. As long as the watch is 'paired' or set up to work with your phone, then you can use it for calls/texts etc. You don't have to be within bluetooth range. You can leave your phone at home and call people when out and about.

Thanks,
Alex
