I’ve entered a payment plan with “the zinc group” to pay off a debt from my contract (i cancelled it due to an ongoing dispute).. but it’s still showing as a negative on my credit report, not that it’s an arrangement like it has for other things.

do i have to contact EE or the zinc group?

If the zinc group have purchased your debt then you'll need to speak to them.
