My contract ended November 2023. I paid the bill for that month. I was told that I would not pay anything else as I wanted to cancel. Why am I still being charged and why hasn't it been cancelled?

EE's mobile contracts are not fixed term ones that end on a given date, they are ongoing contracts with a minimum term date.
Your service and billing will continue until and unless you explicitly give disconnection notice or request a change to PAYG or SIM-only.
