Activate an eSIM abroad?

Hi. I'm currently in the EU and I need to switch my existing contract SIM to an eSIM. It has full roaming enabled. Can I activate it while still abroad, or do I need to wait until I'm back in the UK?

We recommend activating a SIM when in the UK using the EE Network.

Hi, not sure if this is still relevant. My wife is oversees at the moment and we just went through the esim activation process just now. It worked for her. We thought we screwed up when we were reading this thread, but then it activated after about 5 minutes. Do this at your own risk, because the physical sim was deactivated first and we thought we lost the number...
