Putting old sim on new phone while on sim only contract

I have a Sim only 24 month contract with ee, using a Motorola g7 Power mobile phone. If I buy a new phone, can I use the old Sim and old number? Would I be able to do this using any new phone bought from anywhere,  or does the new phone have to be bought from Ee and be a Motorola?

@Ha35  You can put your sim in any phone purchased from anywhere.

Just to add on from @Chris_B point, your new Phone would need to be Network Free (Unlocked for any Network) if bought oitsideq of EE.
