No network

I'm awaiting a new SIM via post but recently I've lost network services. Is this because the new SIM (which will have the new number) deactivates the old, or is it coincidence? I'm in the highlands in Scotland.

TIA

Hi there @MickyP1

Thanks for coming here 🙂

Did you order a replacement SIM to keep the same number or a new SIM with a new number?

Leanne 🙂

Same number. The rep suggested it would work until the new one came.

Did the loss of service coincide with the new SIM being ordered?

If a SIM is pre-activated with your number, then an existing SIM is deactivated as a matter of course - you cannot have two SIMs active on a given mobile number.

This is commonly used in lost & stolen scenarios.

Thanks @MickyP1

It sounds like the SIM card may have been sent out pre-registered and will work as soon as this arrives in the post.

If you have not received the SIM, and you are near an EE Store and have photo ID, they can provide a replacement SIM card for you.

Leanne.

All fixed now. I went to the store in the end, a 100-mile round trip. I know, but I needed to access the bank. And guess what, the new SIM came in the post the next morning!
