despite customer service insisting O have 4G in my area I have not had it since swapping my mobiles from BT. I am getting no help at all.

Are you receiving 2G/3G coverage instead? Or are you getting no service?
Are you in an area of predicted coverage as per https://coverage.ee.co.uk/coverage/ee ?
