As title says, how can I keep my UK phone number and disable my contract as I am away from the UK for a year? For some reason even though I have the roam abroad pass and I am in the US I cannot call EE at all so any answer which can give me an email or some other way to solve this would be greatly appreciated thank you.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Just by keep paying your bills. EE does not give payment holidays.
Alternatively switch your contract to PAYG by giving 30 days notice while still in UK & when PAYG making a chargeable call or text within every 179 days. If you are still within your min term you will be liable to pay early termination fees for the rest of the term. It will basically be months left x monthly charge - 4%.
EE provide no email contact. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.
