Community update feedback list

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for all the feedback posted in our first-ever group.  I am working through all the feedback to see what we can improve and what we may need to take away and include in our roadmap for future development.  I thought it might be handy to provide a master list of feedback which will include updates from me as and when I have them.

Resolved

@ mention functionality not working – This issue has been fixed and a list of members who have posted on the thread will be displayed.  If you begin to type a username a suggested list will now also display

Clicking on an image from within a post does not present a larger image – When clicking on an image within a post, it should present a larger image -  We have looked into this and found an issue which has now been fixed

No time stamps on threads when viewed at board level – This has been addressed we have switched from Relative dates to Absolute dates

Search ‘This board’ option not present – From the search dropdown menu, the option to only search ‘This board’ is missing – This has been resolved.  In the new skin, the option for searching 'This board' is now called 'Discussions' selecting this option will search all content within the specific board you are searching in.

Helpful button confusing – Currently the button used to apply a Helpful (Thumbs up) is also the button used to see who has applied helpfuls to that specific post.  Clicking to the left of the button will apply a helpful and clicking to the right of the button will show you who has added a helpful.  This is confusing as it's not clear this button offers two functions – We have added a border on the button to make it clearer that two options exist

URL link opens in the existing window as opposed to opening in a new window – This has been resolved.  Clicking on a URL within a post will result in the link opening in a new window

Mobile view home button – Having the EE Logo as the Community home button is confusing. – The EE Logo will remain the option for Community Home, but we have also added the home icon to the breadcrumb URL.  This will give you an option to click on the home icon when in a thread which will take you home

Mobile view breadcrumb URL – When trying to navigate back within a thread, on mobile view, you will only be presented with the previous page URL which means you will need to click back a few times to get back to a board. – This has been addressed, we now list the full breadcrumb URL which will allow easier navigation when moving from threads to boards.  We have also added a Home Icon for a faster option to return to the Community homepage

When viewing threads at category/Board level in mobile view, too much content is included from the post in the list view – We have reduced the number of lines displayed at category/board level view in mobile view from 6 lines of text to 2

Timestamp inconsistency - When viewing threads at the board level, the date and the time of the first post in any given thread are displayed.  We have found that when clicking into the thread, the timestamp on the first post is 1 hour behind, that of which is displayed at the board level view – A bug was identified which has now been fixed

Depth of reply window - When replying to a thread, only 2 lines of content from your reply was visible when composing your message, which meant you weren't able to view very much of the reply you have composed before posting - We have increased the depth of the reply window from 2 lines to 7

Still investigating

No outstanding issues 😁

Future considerations

Post count from within a thread i.e. Post 1 of 10.  Unfortunately, this option does not exist on our latest skin.  We will however include this in our roadmap to see if it's possible to add in a future update

No "(New)" indicator against Subject of Posts in a Thread, so you are never sure if you've come across it before. – This was part of a customisation of our old Community so is not available with the new design.  It is something that we can look at for a future release.

View the discussion in popup – An option to open a thread in a new window once you have clicked on reply - When you choose to reply to a post, the thread will remain available for you to scroll through but only on the first page if there are multiple pages in a thread you would be forced to navigate away from the reply page – This feature is not available with our new Community skin.  The new layout moves to ‘inline’ replies which means that you can reply to a post without moving to a new page.  You will still be able to view all the posts on the page of the post you are replying to, however, this will not work for multi-page threads.  We will take this forward for consideration in future improvements

Date and time of latest post - When viewing threads at the board level view, the date and time of the latest post is included however, the date and time of the most recent post are not offered – This option is no longer available on our new Community skin.  We will take this forward for consideration in a future release as we appreciate this feature would be useful

Not in scope

No thread metrics when viewing ‘All topics view – When using the ‘All topics’ URL, the page views, number of replies are not included against each thread as it is when viewing threads at category and board level.  This is not something that we can add at this time, ‘All Topics’ view will still display if a thread has been resolved and how many Helpfuls have been applied but not page views and replies

When pointing at a username you are unable to see member Community stats – We no longer offer the profile card so to view a members Community stats you will need to click on their username to navigate to their profile page

Search dropdown default when searching at board level – When clicking into a category or board, the search dropdown menu defaults to searching ‘All Community’ rather than changing to ‘This category’ or ‘This board’.  It has been confirmed that this is how the search component works, the default option will be ‘All Community’.  To search the category or board level you will need to click on the dropdown and select the option you would like

The results of a Search does not include "Show result in replies" where you get hits – The search component does not show specific results with replies however it will still list all posts which have matched the search terms

I have worked through all the feedback that has been added in the Group and addressed all points raised.  Thank you to everyone who has participated 👍 I will keep the group open for another few days so if there is anything else please create a post.

Thanks again for all the feedback

Cheers

Sean
