Connecting memory device to USB port on smart router

I have connected a Samsung memory device to my smart router. The smart router manager shows status as 'connected' but I am unable to work out how to access the files on the device. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, bryan R

Hi @bryanR.

Welcome to the community.

Have you been able to access files on any other connected devices?

If Win, have you enabled SMB 1.0 File Sharing Support in Program Features?

In File Mgr click on Networks / Computer / SmartRouter to see the USB attached drive. See below but pretend "BrightBox2" is "SmartRouter":

Hi Jon,

Thank you for your thoughts. I've never connected anything else to the USB port but, I am able to access files on the devices connected on Ethernet and Wireless

Hi @bryanR

It's likely the port doesn't deliver enough power for the HDD to run. The Samsung M3 is not a SSD drive.

Thanks

Sorry @bryanR I have no access to files, @XRaySpeX can you offer any other suggestions at all?

Leanne.

Thanks @XRaySpeX, are you able to help with the question about seeing or accessing the files?

thanks

bryanR

Yes, just click on the router's Computer icon and you'll see the drive and its files below it. You might be asked for a password.
