Change over day from BT to EE Broadband

Change over day - a complete disaster! 
engineer did his bit in 40 mins.  5 + hours later and one domestic marital exchange, most apps linked to broadband not working, numerous calls to EE and half a dozen PIN numbers down the line, we are mentally exhausted!  Totally let down by engineer and customer services.  We are not dinasours but not technical IT people either,  we are totally overwhelmed!  At this moment in time I would be happy to reinstall my old set up but it is probably not possible seeing though the engineer installed new wires.  Why are things like this such a pain in the A***?   
it is now costing us money for our alarm company to attend to reset up our system.  Come on EE put things right!
