Can't make a broadband connection with own router. TP-Link

VortexHD1

Hello,

I'm trying to replace my old Asus router with a new TP-Link due to connection drop outs and range problems.

I have a TP-Link Archer AX23 that I bought new connected up to the existing openreach fibre modem.

Using the following settings the connection to the WAN won't connect.

  • Type: PPPoE
  • Username: (hidden)orangehome.co.uk@fp
  • Password: (Hidden)
  • MTU Size: 1492
  • VLAN ID: 101

I optained the username and password details by calling EE due to nolonger having the admin login for the old router and never having an EE router.

Does anyone have any experience with this setup that could shine some light on this issue?

Thanks for reading.

Jack

It's '@fs' not '@fp". You must've misheard. There's a '.' after '(hidden)'.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC => 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC => 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC => 2022: EE 80 Meg FTTC (no landline number)

You also don't need the VLAN setting on the router, the modem should handle that.

Thanks both of you, worked straight away with the 2 changes. 🙂

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance & trust it is now sorted.
