Voicemail message icon showing even though it was listened to

How do you get rid of the voicemail icon? I have no new voicemail messages, yet it continues to show that I do.

This must be a bug, because no one would want to be informed that they have a new voicemail waiting for them, when they do not.

Hello @RichardPWay. 

Have tried rebooting your phone by switching it off and on?

If you no longer need the message are you able to try deleting it to see if the removes the notification?

If you stop listening to the message before the whole message has been played (without deleting it) the icon will still stay on your  screen. Once you have listened to the whole message it should dissapear.
