Unable to use data package abroad

I am currently in Athens, Greece and have noticed for the past 24 hours that my iPhone 15 data package from EE is not working unless I’m connected to WiFi

if I’m out in the city, my emails aren’t loading, new WhatsApp  messages are not appearing and I cannot send WhatsApp messages either, I cannot send or receive phone calls etc.

I have a spend cap on my account and have paid my last bill in full and have prepaid towards the next bill in case that was the issue - it is not as the data package still isn’t working today when I overpaid on the bill yesterday

I do not have another mobile device to call EE and my MacBook / FaceTime won’t connect calls to EE when I try phone their 07953 966 150number

anybody else experiencing similar issues?

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.

On PAYG, this is auto-enabled once your phone is used in the UK first.
On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Did you do this?

If you now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 0798586 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.
