No mobile service in Vietnam and Cambodia

Just got back from a fabulous holiday in Vietnam and Cambodia. Investigated if any travel pack was available before we left to enable calls and texts in both countries and there isn't but the roaming pages for both countries on the EE website states the call and text charges for your mobile.  It is fake info as there is no carrier you can connect to when you enter those countries so EE needs to be upfront with it's customers and tell them their phones won't work when you visit Vietnam and Cambodia. Honesty is always the best policy with your customers.

@GrahamG54 : Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto. Otherwise you need to call CS to get your roaming activated.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC => 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC => 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC => 2022: EE 80 Meg FTTC (no landline number)

Are you saying that you were in an area of no network coverage? Or that you couldn't connect to networks that were available?

1: If a manual network search showed no results, EE cannot allow for foreign networks not covering parts of a particular country

2: If a manual network searched showed networks available, but you couldn't connect to them - that's indicative of roaming not being enabled on your SIM.

Many people confuse chargeable billing add-ons with the free roaming facility.
