Unlimited data add on

Today I bought a 1 day unlimited data add on in order to ensure I had enough data to stream 2 rugby matches. I had nearly my full monthly data allowance left but to make sure I didn't use all my monthly allowance, I purchased the 1 day add on. 

I have now received messages saying I've used my monthly allowance and that I'm now in a slower speed. 

What is the point of purchasing a daily unlimited add on, if it uses your allowance first?. How is that right?

Help..very confused.

that should not happen, you need to call customer services and tell them to reset your data allowance
