This is common ee practice, some say, since it merged with bt.

Pushing towards closing cases before issues resolved, sign a contract and then switch you to slower speed, will not update their coverage issues map although have been working on fixing a mast for a month. Unethical business.

It is possible for your Device to show a 5G Signal indication but you are only actually connected to 4G, this is because you need to be connected to 4G in order for any 5G Signal to initialise, 5G sits behind a 4G Connection (5G NSA), EE do Sleep their 5G if its not required and can kick in when needed for a heavy download, Speed Test or a heavy Stream, some App tools in the App Store can break the Signal Info down in Real Time displaying when a 5G Connection is actually active or not, if this type of Signal Information is required.
