Apple Music subscription not working

I’m new to EE and brought my old number with me. I’ve had Apple Music added for the 6 month free subscription but it does not recognise my account and so the days are passing my and I’m not able to use this service. I don’t have a current subscription with Apple Music outside of the one offered by EE. It’s quite frustrating as it was one of the perks of me switching to EE!
