My elderly and very vulnerable father has a Nokia C1-01 pay-as-you-go phone. He has used it very happily for many years. Unfortunately, being very medically vulnerable, he was forced to shield throughout most of Covid-19 pandemic. As a result he had no use for his mobile phone and it sat in a drawer for nearly two years. We now discover that EE has withdrawn his number and the £15 credit on the phone has 'gone'. A trip to our nearest EE store to resolve the issue was nothing short of useless.
I have tried to unlock the phone using the IMEI number. However, after entering the IMEI, the site confirms the phone model but displays a yellow circle with an !. The site will not proceed to unlock but does not say why.
Any advice would be gratefully received as my father cannot cope with a change of phone!

Hi there @deborahb
Thanks for coming to the community.
I'm sorry to hear the number has now been recycled after going into hibernation.
Could the phone already be unlocked? have you tried another network SIM card?
Thanks.
Leanne.

Hi Leanne,
No, the phone is not already unlocked.
I have a SIM card from another network and it will not register.
