I'm getting conflicting info from 150 each time I call and after submitting unlock requests get text few days later saying imei does not exist. I understand that I didn't get this from tmobile directly, but used it on my existing tmobile account for 8 months, when I was called re my upgrade the agent knew I was using an iPhone 5 on my contract and not the samsung I had upgraded to nearly two years before. carphone warehouse cannot unlock and apple cannot do without instruction from tmobile.

Your iPhone will lock to the network of the SIM you put into it.
Firstly back up all your data via iTunes/iCloud.
Connect your iPhone to iTunes with another UK SIM, eg Vodafone. iTunes should recognise the device automatically and you'll be given a message along the lines of 'your device is unlocked'. This will then lock the iPhone to the network of whatever SIM you put in. If you change SIMs again simply repeat the process.

i had the same problem with my i phone bought from c/w.
i also got text telling me my imei does not exist.
just keep submitting the unlock request
it takes a long time but finally my iphone has now been unlocked
really bad customer service.
