charge for 20 mins to a hour and then switch on.
This happens when the battery is too low to switch on.

Open the back panel.
towards the bottom on the centre there will be a pin hole reset button.
press that for a few seconds till the phone vibrates and that should reset the phone.
Once that is done charge the phone for 10 mins and then switch on.

Did you try to flash another rom and did it brick the device?
Have you tried reflashing back to stock firmware using the SUS / Flashtools ?

Anything on the external SD card should be fine.
Always back up media, contacts etc stored on the internal memory.

I resolved the problem by taking a small plastic brush that came supplied with my hair clippers and slightly moistened it using water. Be sure only to use a very small amount of water. I then inserted the brush into the micro USB port on my phone and also inside the micro USB connector teeth. The twisting action throughly cleaned the insides and removed all the dirt and grease accumulated when the phone was inside my pocket. My Sony Xperia SP now charges without any problems and so should yours. Good luck!

I have had exactly the same issue with an Xperia P Lt22i and solved it the same way, with a moist tooth brush (and not even a new one). I have to admit I will further use the tooth brush for my mouth hygiene.
