unlocking

If your in the middle of a contract, what does unlocking your phone mean? As I will be travelling to America for few months, and need to put an american sim card in.

Re: unlocking

@Shanc6896  Unlocking your device means you can use a different network SIM card in the device and you will need to do this if you wish to use a US SIM card in your device.  As you still in contract it’s only possible to unlock it if you’ve had it longer than 6 months and you will also be charged £8.99 to do this.  It’s only free to unlock once you’ve completed your contract term.

You will though still have to pay your contract to EE if you request it to be unlocked.
