osprey abroad

Hi, I use a 4GEE sim card in an EE router for my home internet. My tariff includes roaming in EU countries so I have bought a small travel router: an EE Osprey (the yellow and black one) for use when we are on holidays in EU countries.

Do I need to have the SIM card or the Osprey device 'unlocked' to use them abroad or will it be just like a mobile phone that just works when away?

Thanks

Re: osprey abroad

@srobo2  You don’t need it unlocked you just need to make sure roaming is enabled on your account.  Call customer services to do this.

Re: osprey abroad

You don't need the Osprey unlocking if you're just running it on an EE SIM. EE Devices only need unlocking to run on non-EE SIMs.

As you are on PAYG roaming is already enabled for you.

Re: osprey abroad

Thanks, although I am on contract, not PAYG. You think it will still work abroad without having to contact customer services?

Re: osprey abroad

Sorry, my mistaken assumption :(.

On contract you do need roaming enabled. Text ROAMING to 150 to check if it is.

Re: osprey abroad

@srobo2  Please read what I originally put.  Seeing as you can not text from a router.

 If your Sim card fits into a mobile phone then you could use text service to enable roaming on your contract

text Roaming to 150

Re: osprey abroad

@Chris_B: The Osprey does SMS as does most MBB routers.

Re: osprey abroad

@XRaySpeX  Does it ??

@srobo2  Ok what he said.

Just to add add you can only use up to 15GB of data a month if your contract allowance has more than this when roaming.

@Chris_B: Yes, it does. Explore yours a bit more carefully.

Re: osprey abroad

@XRaySpeX  That’s very  presumptuous of you to assume that I even have one.

Just to be clear I don’t own and never have owned in fact I don’t believe I’ve  even touched one.
