@yvonnejackson : Your S8 needs to be unlocked to use other networks' SIMs.

Where did you get this device? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Is it on contract or PAYG? How old is it?

Hey, this was new from EE, just the phone and my sim card was used for this
phone.
I know have a new phone and the S8 I want to use here in Kenya, which I
thought would work, as there is no network assigned to the phone.

If the device had been on your contract for at least 6 months, even if that contract has now been cancelled, you can just apply using the Unlocking your device form as the Pay Monthly option and giving the mobile number that it originally came with. It will first show your new current phone on that number, if any, & ask whether that is the device you want to unlock? If not, you will then have to type in the IMEI of the old phone.

Re: can l use my old Samsung S8 in kenya using safari com sim card

The phone did not come with a number, I used my original sim card from my previous phone and then iaed the same sim card for my new phone

When l asked in the store they said the phone can be assigned to any network whether in the UK or Kenya

Ah, the S8 was an EE upgrade from an earlier phone & has itself been EE upgraded to your current phone? Whenever you upgrade you retain your no. Use that no.

All phones bought directly from EE are locked to EE, whatever the store staff tell you,

Hi @yvonnejackson

Welcome to the community. 🙂

If it was originally bought directly from EE on contract, the phone will be locked to EE, unless you've previously requested it to be unlocked.

You can request to unlock the phone through our handset unlocking online form
