Will EE Blacklist the Unblacklisted Phone again

Hi all,

Last week, I bought an iPhone XS Max and found out it was blacklisted by EE. Since then, i can't get hold of the seller.

So i paid for service on eBay to unblacklist the phone, which they did and now my phone is working on EE nicely.

My question is, will EE will Blacklist my phone again? eBay seller is saying, i should unlock the phone and asking for almost £100 for that.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Re: Will EE Blacklist the Unblacklisted Phone again

Does CheckMEND now report it is free from a blacklist?

Please see the attached report and advice me.

Ever blocked: Caution (Amber)

Recipero Assetwathc: Waring (Red)

Rest of them are clear.

Should I pay for unlocking or just leave it like that? Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Will EE Blacklist the Unblacklisted Phone again

You could try to get EE to unlock it for you for £9.

To unlock a 2nd-hand phone you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

But even so beware that EE could still refuse to unlock it. Many phones sold 2nd-hand have been reported lost or stolen, have been sold by the original owner when under 6 months old without EE's permission or have money owing on them.

If that is the case your only remedy is against whoever you got the phone from.

Re: Will EE Blacklist the Unblacklisted Phone again

Does it work for the 1-month-old phone as well?

Re: Will EE Blacklist the Unblacklisted Phone again

No, not if it's only 1 month since the original owner bought it from EE. EE devices can't be unlocked for 6 months.
